John Blum

Dr. Blum joined Tailwater Innovation Partners (TIP) as Director of Energy Innovation and Technology in fall 2023. He has over 13 years of experience in the energy sector.

Prior to joining TIP, Dr. Blum served as Team Lead in Geophysical Licensing and Contracting at ExxonMobil, responsible for vendor relationships and connecting project teams with exploration and new energies opportunities. Previously, Dr. Blum held operations and technology commercialization roles at ExxonMobil, where he contributed to multiple patents. Dr. Blum has a PhD in Earth Science from UC San Diego at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, a master’s degree in International Business and Policy from Georgetown University, and a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Michigan.
